Cully MartinIngraham High School
Cully Martin started computer classes as a freshman at Ingraham. In just three years he earned 20 college credits by taking College Tech Prep classes at his high school.
" I think it's a great deal that we've been able to have the Cisco program at the high school because it's given me a chance to do it all here and save quite a bit of money in class fees instead of taking it at North Seattle when I get to college. It also gives me an earlier start because that way I can hone my skills quicker. "
Latasha DugginsRainier Beach High School
Latasha Duggins liked her College Tech Prep classes so much she's going to cooking school when she graduates. Her skill and enthusiasm won her a $500 scholarship to Seattle Central Community College.
" I didn't know what I wanted to do after high school but I know I like to cook and I like how it makes me feel. I like it when people eat whatever I make and they feel good. "
Kagan TaylorFranklin High School
The credits Kagan Taylor earned during his time at Franklin High School gave him a jump start when he enrolled in the wood working program at Seattle Central Community College.
" Through filling out a form and paying an $18.00 filing fee, I got 18 credits which was the same as one whole semester in the wood construction program and it's allowing me to graduate a semester early which is kind of nice. "
Fahmina SiddiquiIngraham High School
Fahmina Siddiqui won a computer in a web page design contest where she designed a web page about salmon.
"People will be looking at my resume and saying she actually did this. It gives me a nice competitive edge."
Fahmina plans to continue her computer training at Community College.
After that, it's on to her dream job as a programmer.
Joseph GarciaRainier Beach High School
The food industry is a field that's starving for skilled employees. Students who take prep classes can work as paid restaurant interns while their still in high school.
Joseph Garcia got the chance to take part in a cooking competition. His team created a four course meal for a panel of judges. Joseph made the dessert.
It came from a family recipe.
